J`s BBQ in Ripon

Went to "the other side", nice, quiet, relaxing bar with a good booze selection. This place would work well for a meeting or a casual drink with a friend.

Best bbq in the area at a very reasonable price. They also have a great beer selection incuding local Knuth brewery. Definitely will be back when in the area

Look at the photo. That is why I love J's and drive from Watertown! Tip: put their Wildfire sauce on the Mac & Cheese!

We had a good experience tonight at J's BBQ. We ordered the sampler to share between 4 of us and picked ribs, chopped brisket, mac n cheese, southwest vegan chili w/ cheese, cheddar jalepeno cornbread, boneless wings, and pulled pork. The only negatives were that we had to ask for plates and the ribs were a little dark underneath. While we should have considered the heat sitting on the patio the boneless wings, mac n cheese and chili were the favorites. The cold beer helped too. My 5 year old declared that it was so good you should eat it everyday. I missed a pic of the tray because we dug right in but snapped one of my plate.

Just got back from Nashville and hit some of the best BBQ joints in the country. J's would give them a run for their money. Solid menu and very good food. I had the brisket, sweet slaw and beans.

J's BBQ is one of the best restaurants in the area. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The menu is awesome. My favorite things to order: brisket, mac and cheese, potato salad mash, baked beans, fish

Best BBQ I’ve ever had hands down, they let us know they just got a new smoker and it was delicious. The bartender from Illinois (we couldn’t remember his name) was amazing and funny and we’d come back just to chat with him!

Valentine's Dinner to go!!! You absolutely can't go wrong. Shrimp cocktail, there had to be at least 2 pounds of brisket (anyway that's how it seemed), and 2 sides each for me and my wife, and dessert. The girls outdid themselves- AGAIN. When you have a great product, you're gonna be really busy. And this place is hoppin.

Js is by far the best restaurant in the Ripon area, great selection, reasonable prices and the staff is always incredible. The brisket is out of this world and the mac and cheese will blow you away.

I had the pulled pork and it was truly delicious! Don't miss out on the mac and cheese or the pickles.

I heard good things about this place prior to going and i wasn't disappointed. My wife and i had the sampler platter. We were starving and still took food home. When we ordered, i was excited to eat, after seeing our server effortlessly cut our brisket into slices. The side of mac-n-cheese was great too. Pulled pork was tangy, A+ there. Even the slaw was intriguing, A. I'm not a rib guy, but I'd come back for those, A. Overall, I can't wait to come back!

Spot on BBQ with all the sides and then some. They even have a favorite pleasure of mine, fan tail shrimp. Outstanding brisket and pulled pork. Perfect cafeteria style a la carte style set up so you can order as much as you want of whatever. Do go.

You might pay a small premium over fast food, but, it is always worth it! Options for vegans and vegetarians, even though it is a barbeque place. The brisket is amazing and the chicken is great on "J's Nachos"Edit: I took a star off because they are closed too many days! It’s worth the wait though.

A friend and I where staying in Ripon for the EAA show, and visited J's BBQ all three nights of our stay. The food was amazing, true authentic Texas BBQ. That opinion is based on living in Texas 6 years. The owners Jen and Suzanne where a delight to talk to and their staff was polite and helpful. Also the restaurant was very well kept and tidy. We will definitely go back next year.

Yum! Buffalo chicken sandwich was excellent. Mac and cheese is to die for!!

My husband and I went to J's for lunch with our friends; it was our first time going there. The food was really good. We shared since we weren't sure what to get and I wasn't feeling well, and the medium potatoes was a lot of potatoes. Good portions, good pricing, and good service. I would definitely go back.

There’s not many, if any, BBQ restaurants in area or in Northeast Wisconsin so I can see why people like it so much. Brisket is good but nothing special. Can easily make better pork at home. Mac and cheese was cold. I think they just put warm cheese on top of precooked noodles. Sauces are ok. Seem more like sauces you would get on chicken wings, not BBQ.

I eat and try alot of BBQ joints. J's BBQ is a hidden gem in Ripon, WI. The new location is amazing and their food is outstanding! Best Brisket I've ever had! The two owners are friendly as can be, I can't wait to go back.

Really good food... Glad they added boneless wings to their menu. I would like to see a spicier wing sauce since it is a BBQ joint. Also, their service is REALLY casual... Not bad, but they don't really serve you either.

Some of the most tender and tasty baby back ribs I've ever had! The owners are very sweet and I always stop here when I'm in the area.

Fantastic brisket. Better than some of the barbeque I have had down south!Edit: What happened? After revamping the menu, restaurant, and staff J's has dropped in quality, service, and taste. We loved this restaurant, but it has only changed for the worse.

Easily one of the best BBQ restaurants I've ever been too. It rivals if not destroys Famous Daves.

This was excellent. I hope the people in Ripon take advantage of this restaurant. I was very impressed with the authenticity of the brisket to the brisket I am used to in Texas. The sides were excellent. The sauces were great. The owner and staff were very friendly. It's great to know when I come to Ripon for a visit I can still get some great Texas brisket!

Oh man... If you like real barbecue, not bbq sauce, this place is for you. Ribs, brisket, chicken, even really good fish. Try the sampler for 2 people, it is great.

Very disappointed. We called numerous times between 5-6pm and no one picked up and no voicemail. Tried ordering online- couldn't order brisket. Decided to drive there, couldn't tell what was going on, so we called again at 6:40 and they were closed for the rest of the evening.

Meh. I will say the baby back ribs were decent. The best part of the meal was the corn bread. The worst part of the meal was the coleslaw and the brisket. The brisket might be the best in Ripon, but we sure aren’t in Texas. The coleslaw was like eating school lunch salad with a very very small quantity of dressing on top of lettuce. The dressing was good but it wasn’t plentiful enough to hide the lettuce. Is cabbage out of season?

Delicious food! We drove in from Oshkosh and J’s did not disappoint! I will definitely be coming back for heaping piles of meat. I’m looking forward to coming back on a Thursday night for the all you can eat wings...mmmmm.

This is the best place for BBQ in the Midwest. You have to try it. The story behind this place is amazing as well. Make the trip...it's so worth it!
